After I landed myself an internship with Arizona Foothills Magazine for the Spring semester, I thought it would be like the movies -- or like Jane by Design. Of course, it wasn't. But regardless, I wanted to look my best while doing simple repetitive jobs.
I ventured off to the mall a weekend in February and went to a store where I didn't plan on buying anything because I loathe the terrible customer service (If I worked at a clothes shop, I'd be happy to be allotting my advice and smiles to everyone who walked in!).
At Papaya, I found 3 dresses: The black and white striped dress that I featured before, a navy blue 40s-style sleeveless dress (that I now resort to maintaining as a shirt because of it's length) and this Midtone Yellow Pink pleated and polka dotted dress for $20.
You can make it out to fit any style you want. Whether you want to go for the punk ballerina look as I tried to make my outfit appear to be by adding the black pantyhose and lace motorcycle gloves ($5 at F21) -- except I don't wear any makeup, so it could be more punk -- or an elegant look juxtaposing the dress with pearls.
It's a tapestry of culture: 60s pleated, 20s polka dotted, black silkish waist ribbon with a modern touch via a double sided V-neck cut.
The style of the dress is ideal for a fancy dinner or even an outing with friends.
Sincerely, if this dress could sing it would be singing Love is a Battlefield by Pat Benatar!
