The Inner Goth

We featured Katie-Lee's style last year. Her style was chic and cozy compiled with warm colors and girly touches.

When I reunited with Katie-Lee this year, I became impressed by the bold statements that she makes with such a daring look, that I think, is misinterpreted by any on the streets.

When I asked her why and when she went all rock-goth goddess on us, I remember that she said that it was really an alternation between her goth look and her hippie look (I'll feature her hippie look in a later post).
At first, I was a little taken aback by her septum piercing. But she was still the same sweet Katie-Lee, which got me thinking about society's misconceptions about people based on their style, but you can read about that here.

Her goth consisted of thrifted goods or DIY makeshifts.

Katie-Lee says that her style is originated and inspired by music. After telling me about the source of inspiration for her hippie look, she also told me that she's a lover of metal and more hardcore music, such as Iced Earth, ACDC, Black Sabbath, Nine Inch Nails, The Cure among others.

"I don't want to commit myself to just one lifestyle!" she says via email. "I'm into exploring forests and esoteric bookshops, but I also like to go to concerts and make mischief."

If her goth look could sing, she says, it would be rocking out to AC/DC's "Hells Bells."

She defines her style as risk-taking, imaginative and unpredictable, but ultimately, she says she shouldn't be defined by the clothes she wears.

"You aren't defined by the clothes you wear," she says. "No matter how I choose to adorn my body, I'm still the same person.

"I think the same, I have the same manners. People don't seem to get that, so I decided to be a real-life example."

Currently a sophomore at the Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University, Katie-Lee's ultimate dream is to travel the world...and with her favorite latest trend being the burgundy lipstick by MAC (inspired by an ELLE article), we can definitely expect her to be sporting the glamorous shade when she gets to go off and see the rest of the world.

Bon voyage!
