First things first: I'm a sucker for a pretty dress. Especially for one on sale.
During my last day in Concord, Calif., my family and I went to a small town-market sort of place. At the end of the day, I left California having gotten several great deals, one which is this floral dress from Hello Miss that I got for 20 bucks at a boutique store that was closing down.
The dress has an interesting design to it with a V-neck on the back and a fifties neckline on the front. The tail is designed to be longer than the front side, but also comes with a vertical cut down the last few inches of the tail.
Anyway, this past Saturday, I found myself all dolled up with this great dress on and nowhere to go. My parents, who go out to fiestas or just gatherings most weekends, left that evening. I, au contraire, found myself watching Glee on Netflix and later reading "The Help." Like Iris Simkins and Amanda Woods from The Holiday, I'm lovelorn. Oh, my gosh. No! I'm joking. Whoops.
But I digress. The other deals I found at Half Priced Books. Who said fashion has to do with garments? Like Coco Chanel said, fashion is everywhere, and for me, it's most certainly found in great literature.
I ended up getting Kurt Cobain's Journals for 4 bucks, the complete collection of Jane Austen's novels for $8-9 and a book on Van Gogh and an exploration of his art for about $7-8 - the best deal considering that the book is valued around $20ish or more!
Lastly...I just got "the it issue" of NYLON!
