Christmas Inspired Looks + Peppermint Mocha Knock Off Recipe

The holiday season is my favorite time of the year; so much so, I often find myself creating multiple outfits to wear on a certain date. With Christmas just a few weeks away, I've started looking at everything in my closet with the possibility of it being worn on that single day. I thought I'd share my favorite two with y'all along with I recipe I put together that tastes a lot like Starbucks' peppermint mocha-- my favorite holiday drink.

Look 1: Lace & Peplum

Let me start off by saying how much I'd been hating the peplum trend, because it accentuates and widens my already wide hips, until I tried on this skirt.
The red obviously reminds me of Christmas as do the gold accents of the lace tank-- both Candies from Kohl's. I wanted to add a bit of edge to the look, so I went with with a large spikes necklace and finished of the look with my favorite black booties.

Look 2: Lace & Sequins

I think it's safe to say at this point that lace reminds me of the holidays. The skirt I used for this one is actually a dress I wore on New Year's Eve a couple of years ago and never found another use for it because it fits too loosely, but it actually works pretty well as a skirt. I paired it with my lovely mustard, sequined collar, blouse. I folded the top and pinned it a bit to make it more fitted. I finished off the look with a glossy plum lip and the same shoes!

Peppermint Mocha on a Budget

What you'll need:
-hot cocoa mix
-milk
-brewed or instant mix
-candy canes or peppermint syrup (sold at Starbucks for under $10)
-whipped cream
**I realize this isn't exactly mocha and that there might be more conventional ways of going about this.

1. I made my own makeshift peppermint syrup by melting 2 candy canes diluted with a few ounces of boiling water in a small saucepan. You can add for candy canes depending on how strong of a peppermint taste you like.
2. While that's going on, mix 2 parts coffee with 1 part milk. So if you're making just one 8 oz. cup for yourself, about 5 oz. of coffee and 3 oz. milk. Once it's almost to a boil, add whatever amount of your favorite hot cocoa mix as your palate desires.
3. Mix in the peppermint syrup and pour into your favorite holiday mug (mine is this penguin one I picked up at the Dollar Tree).
4. Finish it off with some whipped cream and crushed candy canes, and enjoy!

Hope you all enjoyed this, and be sure to let me know if you try out this recipe or if you have your own holiday drink recipe!

Meow & Out,
Gabee
