Campus Style: Alice in ASU-Wonderland

Last Friday, Lily Lieberman and I got together to interview sculptor students at ASU for an article we were collaborating on, an article about sculptures that were inspired by Lewis Carol's  Alice.

Everything about what she was wearing was jumping out at me through the striking nature and boldness each piece of her outfit encompassed.

Q: Where did you purchase each item and what were their individual prices?

A: Earing - Urban Outfitters, on sale for $4.99
Dress - Urban Outfitters, $59
Tights - Anthropologie, $14
Flats - Madewell, on sale from $90 to $30

Q; What inspired your outfit?

A: I was inspired by our interview with the sculptors. I felt like Alive in Wonderland with my short blue dress, clashing patterned tights and polka dot flats.

Q: If it could be singing, what would it sing?

A: My outfit would be belting  a song by Alt-J, most likely Breezeblocks. It's trippy and they're British. Enough said.

Q: What does fashion mean to you?

Fashion is my weapon.

Election Day

It's election day here in the U.S. A week after Halloween...and the ghost are still out. I'm a little nervous about the turnout. There are many things at stake. But I decided to calm my nerves through my patriotic outfit and be proud.

Through it, I feel a little like Super Girl...I'm going to need her strength. I chose glittery flats because they remind me of the stars. Perfect, no?

Enjoy this Norah Jones song which fits my state of mind right now:

Here's my ten minute outfit with my sock bun (it's sloppier than it should)

Jeggings - Bargain at JCPenny, $10
Polka dot sheer shirt - F21, $15ish
Under red shirt - FREE, hand me down
Glittery Shoes - Payless, $20 compared with Baker's $60 price

Campus Style: An I Love Lucy Outfit

Megan Thompson, student at the Cronkite School of Journalism majoring in broadcasting, has poignantly elegant, yet such a girly and casual look that I finally had the courage to ask her if she would allow me to feature her style as part of our new up and coming page, Campus Style. She also reminds me so much of Cinderella and Snow White.

She bought her dress at Forever 21, and her boots at a boutique shop at of Arizona's shopping centers - Arizona Mills.

She says that the dress is her biggest bargain, and here's why:

"It cost around $15, and it is the easiest outfit to put together," Megan says. "Dresses look super 'done-up' without all the work of picking a pants, shirt, jacket, etc."

If our outfit could sing, she further says, it would be singing the charming "I Love Lucy" theme song. A perfect match with her polka dot on polka dot!

"Fashion, to me, means understanding personality. My style shows off spunk, excitement, professionalism and edge. I like weird things that are different. I feel like I am treated in a more positive way when I take time to take care of myself and put effort into my appearance. I think looks do mean a lot, but not in a narcissistic way...more like, you appreciate and take care of yourself, so others will respect you and your personality."

Give the post a "like" if you enjoyed it & love Megan's outfit!
