Let's start out with the obvious: I love nail polish. Until just the other day, I was storing my 40+ collection in a small, pink basket, which made for great decoration on my dresser but finding the color I wanted when I wanted was a pain.
Then I ran into this neat idea over at The Beauty Department. It's super easy to make and makes finding colors a breeze. Also, I read that it's important to keep nail polish bottles upright so the pigments are easier to shake back together.
Here's what you'll need:
- Some sort of box (I went with a shoe box that held my oxfords because it's big enough for my current collection and what's to come without being too obnoxiously large only to encourage this expensive addiction of nail polish.)
- Wrapping paper or magazines (Optional)
- Scissors
- Glue
- White Mailing labels (It's important that these are white or you won't get the real color of the polish.)
- Hole puncher
- Wrap and decorate your box. This part is completely optional and customizable. You may have a cute box that's cute as is. I opted for hot pink wrapping paper I picked up at a dollar store. I also considered adding some magazine cut-outs, but once I had the box wrapped decided not to.
- Paint small portions of the label with each polish. You want this to be about the size of the hole puncher you're using. I chose to also label each stroke of color with their appropriate name and separated my collection into groups of 8 as to not confuse which label went with which bottle.
- Punch out each color label and apply to the top of its appropriate bottle. Make sure your labels are dry when you do this or you'll end up with a messy project and hole puncher!
- Fill up your box!
Since I already had most of these supplies at home, this ended up costing me a mere $4!
I might decorate my box some more in the future, but for now, I am really content with the results.
Let me know if you try it or how you store your nail polish!
Meow & Out,
Gabee
