A Chatoyant Creation: Nail Polish Storage

Let's start out with the obvious: I love nail polish. Until just the other day, I was storing my 40+ collection in a small, pink basket, which made for great decoration on my dresser but finding the color I wanted when I wanted was a pain.
Then I ran into this neat idea over at The Beauty Department. It's super easy to make and makes finding colors a breeze. Also, I read that it's important to keep nail polish bottles upright so the pigments are easier to shake back together.

Here's what you'll need:
  • Some sort of box (I went with a shoe box that held my oxfords because it's big enough for my current collection and what's to come without being too obnoxiously large only to encourage this expensive addiction of nail polish.)
  • Wrapping paper or magazines (Optional)
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • White Mailing labels (It's important that these are white or you won't get the real color of the polish.)
  • Hole puncher

  1. Wrap and decorate your box. This part is completely optional and customizable. You may have a cute box that's cute as is. I opted for hot pink wrapping paper I picked up at a dollar store. I also considered adding some magazine cut-outs, but once I had the box wrapped decided not to.
  2. Paint small portions of the label with each polish. You want this to be about the size of the hole puncher you're using. I chose to also label each stroke of color with their appropriate name and separated my collection into groups of 8 as to not confuse which label went with which bottle.
  3. Punch out each color label and apply to the top of its appropriate bottle. Make sure your labels are dry when you do this or you'll end up with a messy project and hole puncher!
  4. Fill up your box!

Since I already had most of these supplies at home, this ended up costing me a mere $4!
I might decorate my box some more in the future, but for now, I am really content with the results.
Let me know if you try it or how you store your nail polish!

September Favorites

September went by so quickly it's kind of bittersweet, but moving on, I am sharing a few of my favorite items of this past month.

To start off, I want to talk about shoes again. The same shoes I referred to as "a nude color that I am convinced is a perfect every day shoe" back in my June Favorites. I also found these at Ross, but I wasn't so patient to wait for them to go on sale and paid $13.99 for them. As you can probably tell by the picture, I've worn these A LOT. They are comfy and go with pretty much anything in my closet.

The next item is somewhat of a splurge because I don't typically spend $8 on nail polish. I think we can all agree, though, that Essie's colors are hard to find within other brands. My favorite this month was Ballet Slippers. It's a girly, really soft pink that also matches with pretty much anything, and (for that price you bet it is) is long lasting so I don't have to be constantly switching colors.

Last but not least, are these Bongo jeggings I found at Sears for $11.99. The amazing thing about them, as my friends pointed out, is they're more jeans than leggings. For a mere $12, that's a deal! I seriously love these so much that I wore them so often within the first week of getting them that my mom was like, "Okay, we need to get you another pair of pants."
Hope you all had a wonderful September and have an even better October. I will be posting every other day this month so make sure to check back for new content!

And if you like what you see, make sure you give us a "like" over on our Facebook page, there is always a lot more commotion there. :)
