Gabee's November Favorites

Another month down and one more to go until the new year!

Miscellaneous:
This month I set myself a few goals; one of them was to wear more jewelery. I convinced myself that the reason I never wore any of the necklaces, bracelets, rings, etc. I already own was because of the way they were stored (all tossed and jumbled in a drawer in my dresser), so I went out and bought myself a jewlery tree!

I picked this one up at my local Ross, where they still have a pretty wide variety, for $6.99. I chose this one in particular because of the cute little blue birds-- they are actually meant to hold earrings in a very eerie and creepy manner-- and white base that match the colors of my room and furniture.

I have been wearing more jewelery since I bought it so mission accomplished!

Next, I have more lip products this month to rave about. I'd been on the prowl for an orange lip stick that had a good amount of color pay-off and lasted long. At last, I found two I am content with: Revlon's Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti and Revlon's Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Rendezvous. These both go on pretty much as the same color with the only difference being that the lip butter has more shimmer and gloss to it, so I found it hard to pick just one (in fact, I carry both with me). I did find that the balm stain lasts slightly longer, though.

Fashion:
According to my mother, my new goal in life is to be Taylor Swift. She may or may not be right, but wearing this sweater definitely makes me feel Taylor Swift-esque.
This is from the Vera Wang Princess collection at Kohl's. I picked it up for my younger sister's birthday party earlier this month for $23 and have had a hard time not wearing it every day.
I have a thing for striped sweaters, but I think my favorite part of this piece is in the smaller details like the mesh bottom and sequined shoulders-- the back bow is also adorable.
It's hard to see in the pictures, but it's actually a metallic gold color which is perfect for the holiday season.

I've been loving the new skulls trend as of lately and finally jumped on the bandwagon a couple of weeks ago and bought this sheer blouse.

I think what I love most about this trend is how versatile it is. The pattern can be styled with some obvious edge or in a much more subdued manner-- I think the trick is in the color palette you choose.

That is it for my November favorites. If you like what you see, make sure to give it a "like" and share, and as always, you can find us Cats over on Facebook (Facebook.com/ChatoyantDiary) and Twitter (@ChatoyantDiary)

Happy December,

October Favorites

Goodbye, October; hello, November!
Some of my favorites this month are pretty obvious, so let's get started with the most obvious one: Revlon's Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie.
Worn here, herehere and pretty much every other day this month.
I love how true to its name it is, it's a real red raspberry color-- a pink-ish red. It's not only a great color for the fall, but because it's a "butter", making it really moisturizing,  rather than a lipstick, it is great for the chilly weather that dries out your lips. The color pay-off increases with how much you apply so it's versatile as well as really long
lasting-- seriously, this thing has stayed on even after an entire meal.

This next one is also pretty obvious to anyone that knows me, or follows me on Twitter and/or Instagram. I absolutely love Taylor Swift and I love Red.
Some have complained that her new stuff sounds way too different--and it does-- but if anyone can do it, it's her. I mean, she's Taylor freaking Swift. If you haven't heard the album in its entirety, I suggest you do; there's bound to be a song or two you like. It's a little Pop, a little Rock, a little bit Country, and all Taylor Swift heartache.
I was going to try to pick a favorite, but that's pretty hard so here are my top 5 (out of 22) most played:
1. The Last Time (featuring Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol)
2. I Knew You Were Trouble.
3. Everything Has Changed (featuring Ed Sheeran)
4. 22
5. Holy Ground and Treacherous have the same play count

October kept me pretty busy, which meant late nights, which meant pushing getting up five minutes, or ten, or 15, or 30... In fact, I think this month may have unmade me a morning person all together. Fortunately, I had this life saving, super comfy jumper on those mornings I was running late. I bought this in August right before school started to keep me warm in the freezing A/C, but it's also light enough to be worn on its own, which I did really often this month with shorts or jeans.
I think once it gets cold enough to layer more here in Phoenix, this will have a whole new purpose.
I also really like owls, which I think is what attracted me to it in the first place, and this one has geeky glasses which makes it quirky gold. It reads: It's owl geek to me!
Ross: $11.99

That is all for my October favorites. Pretty short because like I said, I had a busy month which kept me in sweatshirts most of the time. But all in all, it was a good month, and I am beyond excited for the rest of the year. 54 days until Christmas and even less 'til our best friends return home! Feel free to let me know what some of your favorite things were this month and what you think of T-Swift's new album.

Being Taylor Swift at the Zoo!

As you may or may not know, Taylor Swift's new album was released yesterday, so I spent my weekend in T-Swift inspired outfits. My favorite being this collared dress.
I'm not sure if it's the collar or cut/flow of it that makes me think of her.
Regardless, it's one of my favorite new pieces and the dark teal color is perfect for the cooler months. I styled this pretty simple and girly because that's how Taylor usually approaches fashion, but I think it's a pretty versatile dress.
Of course, I went for a red lip, that looks pink in these pictures, to complete the look.

Also, I apologize beforehand if the posting here becomes a bit slow this week, but I am dealing with a pretty epic allergic reaction (maybe you can spot it in the pictures) and the pills make me sleepy. And then there are midterms.

Hope you are all having a lovely week!

Summer Love for Another Time

When I think of a wonderful summer time I think of California beaches, falling in love, and that cute short dress that makes you feel alive because it exposes your epidermis to the summer's flare.

My favorite part of that thought is just being able to feel the loveliness and the aliveness when the warmth of a breeze caresses my skin.

Let's pretend that the summer's heat has gone (for those with weather well below 80 degrees, you're living the dream): The summer has ended, if you did have some kind of magical love, well, cliche determines a heartbreak must abound. But what cliche forgets to tell you is the further devastation you will feel, the further heartbreak you will have when you have to say goodbye to your favorite summer dress.

If the dress could talk, though, it'd say one little word over and over: Versatility.

Most of us would agree that the best thing about the fall and about winter is layering. My favorite thing about sleeping is LAYERING.

But I digress. Grab that favorite dress from the back of your closet and manipulate its summer flare and make it work for fall and winter -- for times they are a-changing! Toss in some simple tights, a light sweater/cardigan, and those irresistible boots that have been gathering dust bunnies for the other half of the year.

Although the dress I chose to showcase here has darker shades, you can definitely make any of your dresses work by pairing it up with a fall trend, such as a pale soft color knitted sweater (think Taylor Swift).

The sweater I through on was a hand-me down from my sister part of a Moda International brand; the dress is from Wet Seal for $20, tights from Target for $6 and boots for $17 from Target (reduced from $35.99).
